Did you ever get the chance to see Guillermo del Toro's recent "Nightmare Alley"? A little too well done for me, there was no one I could feel invested in to keep me watching. It did catch the creepifying aspect of that world. (Again, a little too well for me.)
I never could take any pleasure in those things. I don't recall ever being to one that had any manner of freak show, and the rides never thrilled me that much.
